![]() Ah-Ha! Went upstairs and tore apart another PC to get the power supply, hauled it down to the QNAP and plugged it in. The fan on the internal power supply was NOT spinning. This time I did happen to notice one key thing. At this point I was shooting for the "loose connector" theory. Decided to reseat the ram (which is spec'd at 1GB and somehow I managed to get 2GB - go figure) - yes, there is a second slot below for a mem upgrade - and put it all back together. Had the MB out in a few minutes and scoured it for any signs of an issue (capacitors, whatever) - and it looked like new. Man - there ain't much to these things once you get the case apart. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! Being an IT guy, I decided to crack it open and just double check everything. I had a pretty hefty email exchange with QNAP over this and after answering their diagnostics questions, I was further convinced the main board (motherboard) had given up. Because the fans were spinning and I saw a LAN light flicker I was convinced it wasn't the power supply and had to be the main board. ![]() No beeps and couldn't see anything on a monitor I connected. When I cycled power, I got NO lights and just booting> on the display forever and the fans were running at high. I'm closing the loop on this for those that may have a similar problem.
